For whom is the counseling?

People who want to apply for asylum in Germany or have already done so.

Who does the counseling?

Members of AK Asyl Bielefeld staff in cooperation with IMAG NGO and the German Red Cross Bielefeld.

What does the counseling help with?

First of all, the asylum seekers are educated about the process of the asylum proceedings and about their rights and duties as asylum seekers. They are prepared for the upcoming interview at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees („Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge” - BAMF) where they are mostly questioned about their travel route and their reasons for migration. On request and if necessary a member of staff may fill out the transfer application form (“Zuweisungsantrag”) for individual asylum seekers and accompany them to the BAMF or to the Central Immigration Authorities (“Ausländerbehörde”). Furthermore, the counseling offers support with questions about financing, education, and accommodation.
